World Organ Donation Day

Organ Donation Program 2024

Ahmedabad

On this day, an awareness program was conducted at the Government Polytechnic for Girls College, Navrangpura. Dr. Jigar Shrimali (Nephrologist) provided comprehensive insights into cadaveric organ donation and encouraged students to pledge their organs.

Another session was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sheth R.A. College of Science for students and teachers.

Bhavnagar

India Renal Foundation and the Indian Red Cross Society, Bhavnagar branch, organized:

  • An awareness rally at Shantilal Shah High School
  • A lecture at the District Education and Training Center, Sidsar
  • An awareness drive at Joggers Park, Atabhai Chowk, and Ghoghagate, distributing pamphlets and pledge forms.

 

Mr. Sumitbhai Thakkar, a member of the local advisory committee, attended all events.

Vadodara

During Independence Day celebrations at Baroda Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) on August 15, an awareness program was conducted, where dignitaries and students pledged to donate their organs.

Surat

Prevention of kidney disease and cadaveric organ donation awareness program was organized on this day by the Surat chapter of the organization in collaboration with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Master of Social Work (MSW) and Department of Sociology. Faculty, staff and students of MSW and Department of Sociology participated in the program with great enthusiasm. Dr. Kishore Singh N. Chavda, Chancellor of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University was the chief guest of the program and Dr. Deepak Tamankuwala, a well-known nephrologist of the city, was present as the chief speaker. Dr. Tamakuwala gave detailed information about kidney and cadaver organ donation in very simple language.

Mehsana

India Renal Foundation Mehsana organized a cadaveric organ donation awareness program for students and professors of Joitiba College of Nursing, Bhandu. Dr. Neil Patel (Nephrologist) was present as the keynote speaker of the program and gave detailed information to the nursing students about cadaveric organ donation and kidney transplant through PPT and appealed to them to contribute in creating awareness about this in the society.

Rajkot

An awareness play was organized by India Renal Foundation and 94.3 Radio Rajkot to encourage organ donation on Organ Donation Day at Folkology Centre, Racecourse Circle, Rajkot.

MLA Mrs. Darshitaben Shah, Director of Radio Rajkot Mr. Sanjay Mehta, Trustee of Bolbala Trust Mr. Jayeshbhai Upadhyay, Members of Local Advisory Committee of India Renal Foundation Rajkot Mr. Mittal Khetani and Mr. Denisbhai Adesara, Chairman of Folklore Center Dr. Rameshbhai Bhayani were present as the chief guests in this event. RJ Chandni, RJ Priyank and RJ Devyani from 94.3 Radio Rajkot all gave their guidance on World Organ Donation Day and spread the message of organ donation to people through radio and drama.

Another organ donation awareness rally was organized in Rajkot city with the participation of students of Kamdar Nursing College from Citizen Bank Chowk to Trikonbagh in which students tried to create awareness about organ donation through placards.

Recent Organ Donation Events

Ahmedabad

India Renal Foundation, Ahmedabad organized an Organ Donation Awareness Seminar for 3rd and 4th year B.Sc students and faculty at JG International College of Nursing, Sola as part of the celebration of “World Organ Donation Day 2023”. In this program, the famous nephrologists Dr. Raj Mandot was invited as the keynote speaker who elaborated on the need for organ donation, its importance, laws of organ donation and various organizations working for organ donation through a power point presentation. He also interacted with the students and resolved their queries regarding organ donation.

Another same as above organ donation awareness seminar was conducted for students studying B.Sc Nursing at Sahajanand Nursing College, zundal, Gandhinagar.

Bhavnagar

On the occasion of World Organ Donation Day Dr.Hardik Kyada (M.D) gave insight on Organ Donation Awareness. The seminar was held at Lohana Mahajan Wadi on 18th August.

India’s Health Minister Shri Mansukhbhai Mandavia and former Education Minister and MLA Shri Jitubhai Vaghani encouraged the organ donation awareness campaign and kidney awareness activities. Mr. Sumitbhai Thakkar, Member of Advisory Committee of Bhavnagar Chapter was especially present.

Vadodara

Prevention of Kidney Disease and Cadaver Organ Donation Awareness Program” was organized as a joint initiative of India Renal Foundation (IRF) and Postal Training Center (PTC), in which trainees and employees from different states of Postal Training Center were present. Well-known Nephrologist Dr. Kamlesh Parikh explained in very simple language the measures to avoid the consequences of kidney failure and Dr. Diptiben gave detailed information about cadaver organ donation.

An organ donation awareness program was conducted at PDU Medical College by India Renal Foundation Rajkot. In which information was given about the importance of organ donation by the main speaker Dr. Dennis Savalia.

Surat

Prevention of Kidney Disease and Cadaver Organ Donation Awareness Program” was organized by IRF Surat Department of Sociology, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Surat. In which MSW and Sociology department staff, faculty and students were present. Dr. Deepak Tamakuwala, a well-known nephrologist of the city, was present as a speaker and explained in very simple language the measures to prevent kidney failure and gave detailed information about cadaver organ donation.
