Following the passing of our esteemed founder Chairman, the Late Shri Chinubhai Shah, I am honored to step into the role of Chairman of the India Renal Foundation (IRF). Our goal is to honor Shri Chinubhai’s legacy by maintaining the momentum of his philanthropic work. I am committed to ensuring that our activities continue to reflect his dedication and vision.
Since IRF’s inception in 2002, the organization has grown significantly. I have been involved with IRF since 2003 as an Advisory Board Member for the Ahmedabad chapter, and I have witnessed the foundation’s journey and progress firsthand. Building on the strong foundation our founder laid, it is a privilege to now be in charge of this charitable initiative.
Under my leadership, we aim to intensify our core mission of raising awareness about kidney health and extending our outreach to those in need. We are also considering expanding our services to include on-site blood pressure and diabetes screenings, especially in rural areas where such basic healthcare services are limited. This initiative may involve acquiring a mobile unit and setting up the necessary infrastructure to better serve these communities.
I look forward to collaborating with our Advisory Board members, staff, and volunteers to further expand our efforts and reach every corner of our nation in the fight against kidney disease. As we continue to achieve new milestones, I sincerely hope for your ongoing support. We will keep you informed of our progress with timely updates and transparency.
With warm regards,
Trilok Parikh
Chairman
After 16 years with the India Renal Foundation (IRF), I am filled with a mix of emotions and reflections on our journey. From our humble beginnings in 2002, we never anticipated the tremendous public response and impact IRF would achieve. Recognizing the lack of prevention efforts in Gujarat, we launched our “Awareness Programme,” which remains central to our work, educating the public about blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney health across the state.
Our initial focus on awareness led to the creation of the “Save a Life” program, providing financial assistance for dialysis to over 10,000 patients. As we progressed, we introduced “Prerana” to support the mental and financial well-being of kidney patients, enhancing their quality of life through comprehensive rehabilitation.
In our efforts to facilitate kidney transplants, we launched the “Jivandaan” program to promote organ donation and facilitate cadaver transplants. This initiative has successfully helped 105 patients by educating the public and advocating for organ donation.Throughout our journey, corporate partners, philanthropists, and medical professionals have provided us with a lot of support. Their generosity and guidance have been crucial in advancing our mission. The dedication of our advisory committee members, who are leaders in their fields, has also been invaluable. We are profoundly grateful for their ongoing support and proud of our achievements over the years.
With best wishes,
CHINUBHAI SHAH
Chairman
