India Renal Foundation (IRF) is a voluntary not-for-profit health organization working for Prevention, Treatment, Rehabilitation, Education and Research in the area of kidney diseases in Gujarat since January 2002.
PREVENTION THROUGH AWARENESS PROGRAMME is the core activity of the foundation and dissemination of information for Prevention of Kidney Diseases through Awareness Programme is being done relentlessly since inception of IRF. Our job is to make people understand that healthy kidneys are important to live healthy life. Kidney diseases are silent killers which affects quality of life. We explain that kidney disease can be easily identified through inexpensive simple test. Through our presentations we also remind them that people with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and over the age of 60 should regularly get themselves checked for their kidney function. It is well known that High BP and Diabetes are increasing day by day and in fact they are the major risk factors of chronic renal disease.
Foundation is also giving financial assistance to Renal Failure patients for their treatment under the programme called ‘Save a Life’. More than 250 patients are being given financial assistance every month. We also work for their rehabilitation under the programme called ‘Prerana’. Foundation also raises awareness about ‘Organ Donation’ and promotes ‘Cadaver Organ Donation’ under ‘Jivandaan’ programme.
Foundations setup its First Dialysis Centre at Krishna Sarvjanik Hospital, Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district with an objective to give quality dialysis to needy patients from nearby areas. It was started in September 2018 and 23 patients are regularly taking dialysis treatment and more than 250 dialysis are being given every month.
Today IRF is in its 20th year and has 9 chapters in the state of Gujarat functioning at Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Vadodara, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot Kutch-Bhuj, Geer-Somnath and Himmatnagar and have prominent citizens as advisory committee members at all chapters.

IRF established its first dialysis centre at Krishna Sarvjanik Hospital in 2018, which now serves 23 patients and performs over 250 dialysis sessions monthly. With nine chapters across Gujarat, IRF continues to make significant strides in kidney health and community support.
