History of IRF…

India Renal Foundation (IRF) is a voluntary not-for-profit health organisation working for prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, education and research in the area of kidney diseases since 2002.

Where are kidneys in the human body ?

80 % of persons asked from a group of health conscious – regular walking and undertaking other forms of exercise answered : Don’t know !!!!!!!!!

And the journey of IRF started in January 2002…………

India Renal Foundation got registered on 15th January 2002.

We started our work from Ahmedabad. Meeting people and organizing Awareness Programs was the first step and this activity was given a name ‘Prevention Through Awareness Program’

Foundation started giving financial assistance to kidney failure patients under ‘Save a life’ program in July 2002 with 3 patients and now we support 250 patients every month which includes transplant patients also

Rehabilitation activities of kidney failure patients were commenced in October 2002 under the program called ‘Prerana’ .

Vadodara chapter was started in October 2002 , Surat chapter in February 2003 and Rajkot chapter in April 2004 wherein same activities are being done.

Foundation promotes Organ Donation and raises Awareness about ‘Organ Donation’ under ‘Jivandaan’ program which was launched in July 2005, where in Shri I. K. Jadeja , Health Minister of Gujarat then was invited as the Chief Guest.

Later in October 2012 , Mehsana chapter,in February 2013 Bhavnagar Chapter and in June 2014 Bhuj chapter was launched .

Foundation is now working across the state of Gujarat from seven chapters and propagating the cause, raising awareness and reaching out to needy patients.
